Last week Microsoft unveiled its deal for acquisition of live-streaming startup Beam with a plan to use this interactive technology to improve the live experience on the Xbox.
Since the time Beam emerged as winner of Techcrunch Distupt earlier this year, it fascinated a number of players. Microsoft has designed this deal to make Xbox Live experience more social and fun for users.
"We at Xbox ... want to provide gamers with the freedom and choice to have great multiplayer experiences across all of Beam's platforms," said Chad Gibson, partner group program manager at Xbox Live.
Matt Salsamendi, CEO at Beam, has been assigned to lead Beam team as part of Xbox team in Microsoft’s Engineering Group. The company is expected to add few new faces also to help grow the newly combined platform.
The acquisition is aimed at Microsoft's effort to augment its Xbox efforts to fulfill increasing demands for interactivity. The multiplayer model is gaining a momentum in comparison to individual player format to let users engage with each other across space and time
Microsoft matured this deal just after two months of its announcing the new series of Xbox at the E3 conference. It previewed Project Scorpio, touting it as the most advanced game console ever created.
