Intel launches 8th generation CPUs

8th generation core processors

Intel launches 8th generation core processors today. The new 8xxx U-series processors claim up to 40% faster than the previous generation. The processors are low-power chips, aimed at thin and light laptops, 2-in-1 machines, and tablets.

The chips have 40% better performance than the previous intel core processors. Intel estimates nearly 450 million PCs older than five years currently in use. These new processors two times faster than five-year-old processors, said, Gregory Bryant, Intel senior vice-president.

The new processors fit into laptops that are less than 11 mm thick and run at 4K content, VR apps, and mixed reality technology.

Recently claimed AMD’s Rival Advanced Micro Devices are the fastest desktop processors, but Intel believes its new desktop chips will beat AMD’s fastest offering. The new chips targeted at laptop users who like to do video editing or run virtual reality apps. The processors can run 4K Ultra HD video for up to 10 hours on a single charge.

Users can edit photos 48% faster on 8th-generation processors compared to the other intel processors. Also, video editing is 14.7 times faster than on a five-year-old PC, and watch videos in 4K UHD resolution and use Thunderbolt 3 external graphics for better gaming and VR. The latest chips enable users to pay for goods online and authenticate identity using fingerprint readers built into the PC.

The 8th Gen Intel Core processors will hit the market in September. More than 145 models available with the new Core i5 and Core i7 processors. The 8th Gen Intel Core processors continue to roll out over the coming months. The first desktop processors coming in the fall from enterprise customers and a broad range of other options purpose-built for different segments.

The eighth-generation series have based on the Coffee Lake and Cannon Lake micro-architectures and manufactured using a 10nm process.
