Pakistan has decided to ban all Indian channels that are aired in the country from October 15.

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Saturday announced its decision to ban all Indian channels across the nation.

The authority further said it was receiving numerous complaints on illegal Indian content being aired on satellite TV channels.

The Pakistani move comes after Mumbai-based Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) passed a resolution on Friday to ban Pakistani actors from the industry in the aftermath of Uri terror attacks that lead to the death of 20 Indian soldiers.

In a press release, PEMRA wrote, "PEMRA has warned that strict action would be taken according to law after October 15 if TV channels and distribution networks failed to follow the directions."

To protest the September 19 terror attacks in Uri, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) passed a resolution banning Pakistani actors and technicians from working in India until relations between the two countries returned to normal.

The PEMRA has warned that strict action would be taken under law after October 15 if TV channels and distribution networks failed to follow the directions.
