Chrome and Firefox are blocking direct access to the The Pirate Bay's download pages. According to Google's Safe Browsing diagnostics service The Pirate Bay Contains "harmful programs,” It’s likely that The Pirate Bay is hosting an ad network that’s running malicious content.
According to TorrentFreak report, Google blocks The Pirate Bay in Chrome and Firefox over ‘harmful programs’. The entire domain hasn't been blocked. If you trust The Pirate Bay, you can still visit these blocked pages by ignoring malware warning.
The warnings are a bit different depending on the browser you’re using, but the meaning is same. Chrome users are told that “Attackers on thepiratebay.org might attempt to trick you into installing programs that harm your browsing experience. For example, showing extra ads on sites you visit or changing your homepage.
Firefox Browser displays, “This web page at thepiratebay.org has been reported to contain unwanted software and has been blocked based on your security preferences. Unwanted software pages try to install software that can be deceptive and affect your system in unexpected ways.”
Chrome users can bypass this message by clicking Details and then “visit this site,” while Firefox users can click “Ignore this warning.” You should only do this if you trust The Pirate Bay.
These types of warnings typically occur when an ad network is compromised and starts serving malicious ads. Because sites often use multiple advertising networks, some specific to certain regions, not all users are always affected. In short, at least one torrent page on The Pirate Bay is serving up malware, according to Google. So it's your choice to use The Pirate Bay or not.
