Apple has patented a concept paper bag “formed of white solid bleached sulfate paper with at least 60% post-consumer content”. Apple says it has come up with a way of producing white bags that are much stronger.
Apple plans to use a minimum of 60 per cent recycled material in the bags and use nothing but paper in the construction, along with a little glue.
Apple has previously said that it will move away from using plastic bags in its stores to more environmentally friendly paper bags. The company has already started using paper bags in some stores for certain launches, such as the Apple Watch.

The abstract of the patent is as follows, “A paper bag is disclosed. The paper bag may include a bag container formed of white solid bleached sulfate paper with at least 60% post-consumer content.” The patent also describes the background of paper bags saying, “Bags are often used for containing items. For example, retail bags may be used to contain items purchased at a retail store.”
Apple specifically calls for the material of its ideal carryall to consist of 60 percent "post-consumer content." Even the bag handle may be made of paper so as to decrease its environmental impact.
