As Title Sponsor of the 2014 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix, Singapore Airlines will be hosting the first-ever Singapore Airlines ‘Light Up The Night’ carnival on Saturday 16 August. The free of charge event will make highlights of the F1 experience accessible to the general public.

The carnival, which will be held at Singapore’s F1 Pit Building on Marina Promenade between 2pm and 10pm, is part of a series of exciting activities specially organized by Singapore Airlines in the lead-up to this year’s F1 Singapore Grand Prix night race, over 19-21 September 2014.

F1 fans attending the Carnival will stand a chance to win tickets to this year’s F1 Singapore night race. Limited edition SIA F1 merchandise, including caps, travel accessories, soft toys and collectors’ gold medallions, will be sold at the Carnival, as well as special promotional airfares for travel from Singapore.

In support of the event, local enthusiast group Scuderia FSG will be parading their supercars in a convoy around Singapore in the hours leading up to the start of the Carnival. These supercars will also be showcased along with a group of vintage cars in an exhibition at the event. Car and motorsports enthusiasts can also look forward to action-packed activities at the Carnival, including exhilarating stunt displays.

For those who prefer to get in on the action themselves, they may take part in go-kart racing, while the less adventurous can join in on other fun activities like remote-car racing, driving race simulators or learning the nuts and bolts of how to change an F1 car tyre.

Racing elements aside, the Carnival will also feature activities for the family, including free movie screenings for kids, UV and body painting, as well as an appearance of the race legends from the world-famous wax attraction Madame Tussauds Singapore and an actual-sized F1 car.

The SIA Light Up The Night carnival will be a great prelude to one of the most exciting sporting events in the world, and one of the most exciting races in the F1 calendar. It will be an opportunity for more people to experience the excitement and spirit of F1, and explore some of the areas that will be the centre of all the action come September,” said SIA’s Divisional Vice President Sales & Marketing, Foo Chai Woo.

Fans are encouraged to pre-register for the carnival to enjoy access to the priority queue for various activities. They can also book an appointment to decal their car in the same design as that of the supercars, on the day of the carnival. Those who do so will enjoy a complimentary valet service, receive an exclusive Singapore Airlines F1 goodie bag, and stand a chance to win race day tickets, including a pair of Grandstand tickets. Registration for both the carnival and decal opportunity opens on 4 August at www.SIAnightrace.com.

In addition to the Light Up the Night carnival, the public may participate in the Singapore Airlines SNAP & WIN contest to stand a chance to win race tickets and exclusive SIA F1 collectibles. To qualify, entrants simply have to take a photo of themselves at any Singapore Airlines-F1 related event and share it on their social media networks with #RacewithSIA.

These may include taking a photo at any of Singapore Airlines’ SNAP & WIN photo booths, Rev Up Singapore! Events by Singapore GP in schools and libraries, or spotting the SIA Hop-On Bus or any car with the SIA decal anywhere across the island.

Winners of the five best entries every week between 1 August and 21 September will stand a chance to receive an exclusive SIA F1 goodie bag, while winners of the most interesting photo collages or videos posted before 10 September will stand to win tickets to the F1 Singapore Grand Prix night race.
