Best seller for drones - DJI recently unveiled its first foldable drone - Mavic Pro.

The Chinese manufacturer claims that this drone is fully foldable and can be squeezed to the size of a water bottle to easy handling in transportation.

DJI came out with this product just a week after the GoPro introduced its foldable drone. Both the quadcopters are available at an almost similar price tag but DJI’s Mavic Pro is packed with additional features like obstacle avoidance sensors and smaller in size. It has got a better flying range as well as can remain airborne for longer duration.

Despite a neck to neck competition DJI’s machine can offer a tougher time for GoPro as obstacle avoidance feature of Mavic Pro will make it a lot more attractive to first-time buyers because it  avoids crashing into things and also provides tactile feedback on the controller to warn when the drone is getting near to an object.

Mavic Pro is not the first foldable from DJI rather it is the most compact model. DJI already offers larger octocopters with adjustable arms for industrial uses. It is fitted with a front facing collision avoidance system that can spot obstacles up to 15m when travelling under 36km/h.

The comparison data of Mavic Pro (DJI) and Karma (GoPro) makes many things clear.

• A top speed of 64.8km/h i.e.8km/h faster than GoPro.

• A range of 7kms – 6kms more than Karma of GoPro.

• Flying time of 27 minutes on a single battery recharge – 7 minutes more than the rival.

• Geo fencing software to avoid entry into restricted areas like airports.

It also lacks few features like detachable camera, stabilizer and needs a smartphone to monitor the video being shot but still on papers DJI’s product certainly looks stronger.
