Viveport, HTC’s app store for its Vive virtual reality headset, is going online worldwide today. The Viveport store will be available in Vive headsets, web browsers, and as a PC and mobile app.

The Viveport store, which previously was open only in China, is now available worldwide. Viveport will feature a wide range of VR experiences across education, design, art, social, video, music, sports, health, fashion, travel, news, shopping, creativity tools, and more.

Rikard Steiber, president of Viveport, said, Viveport is the place where people can start their journey to virtual reality experiences. We launched in China earlier this year. We are happy to roll this out globally with some of the best creators in the industry. Our vision is to establish Viveport as the platform for virtual reality.

HTC Vive owners can buy and run apps and games directly through Steam, or download them from third-party services like Itch.io. But Viveport is supposed to make it easier for non-gaming experiences to get noticed.

"Our mission is to unleash human imagination from the limitations of reality, and Viveport will be an important cornerstone in democratizing access to the world’s most diverse selection of immersive experiences," said Cher Wang, CEO of HTC.

To celebrate the launch of the Viveport app store, “super-hit” titles will carry a price tag of $1 for only 48 hours. Plus, for a lucky few HTC Vive users, there will be a secret message that will give them unlimited access to Viveport content.
