Investigators and Interpol organized anti-cybercrime operation nearly 9,000 malware servers and thousands of compromised websites from seven nations in ASEAN region.  

Targeting financial institutions and spreading ransomware attacks and threats among the infected severs showed. As different types of Malwares have developed to attack different organizations and establishing Distributed Denial of Service. These operations are organized in tackling the old cybercrimes in these nations.

The operation identified 270 attacked some website which run on malware codes mostly using hacked, virus infected systems to attack the sites until they get the required data. Among these many government websites are involved which contain citizens information.

A number of fraud website operators were also identified, including one with links to Nigeria, said Interpol, adding that further investigations into other suspects are still ongoing. One Indonesia-based criminal who was selling malware kits via illegal file sharing had posted YouTube videos showing customers how to use the illicit software, it said.

The effort follows a breach this year at Singapore's Ministry of Defense, when personal details of 850 national servicemen and staff were stolen in what the defense ministry described as a "targeted and carefully planned" attack.
