In its F8 conference hosted by Facebook in San Jose, Mark Zuckerberg debuts Facebook’s vision for augmented reality as it is expected to play a big role.

We all have heard about virtual reality and many of us have experienced virtual reality without realizing and knowing the reality about VR.

It is a technology that superimposes a digital image and creates a layering of it on top of a person’s view of the real world. It can be experienced in many ways like through a headset or device supporting AR or in a simpler manner like on a smartphone.

Quite a number of users are using AI without realizing the fact. Use of Snapchat filters or playing Pokemon Go is a major example of use of a form of AR. With Snapchat, the app uses digital images like bunny ears or funny glasses and places them on your face when taking a picture. In the wildly popular Pokemon Go, users could view the creatures through their smartphone camera, simulating the experience of grabbing Pokemon in the real world. Other apps like Yelp have experimented with AR too.

Microsoft is working on a headset called HoloLens, a more sophisticated spin on augmented reality. For example, a user could play Minecraft through the device, with their block-filled world coming to life on a coffee table, or you play an action game where robots seem to be busting through the walls.  Apple is also reportedly considering a move into AR, either with the next version of the iPhone or a pair of glasses. Google also famously brought AR to the spotlight with its Google Glass eyewear.

Virtual Reality is considered to be an impressive platform and gets lot of attention these days. Many users are acquainted with AR concept. Moreover it doesn’t need to spend lot of money to enjoy AR.

In a report from SuperData Research VR and AR is expected to be a $30.4 billion industry by 2020.
