An Alabama-based company has started developing chewing gums to detect the cancer in the patients. The Company Volatile analysis is still testing and developing it. By this chewing gum mechanism the patients can get rid of giving blood tests and urine tests. This could be early prediction.

When a person puts the chewing gum, saliva present in mouth is combination of enzymes react with it chewing gum the patient should chew it at least 15 minutes to heavily mix with the saliva. The people who are suffering from cancer will produce the volatile organic compounds which differ in various cancer patients. The gum will trap the compounds.

The Alabama-based firm says the gum could detect pancreatic, lung and breast cancer. The company is hoping to have various flavors in the product.

Bazemore said "Volatile Analysis is also developing a pacifier technology to test young children for diseases in infancy".

According to the National Cancer Institute there were an estimated 1.5 million new cancer cases diagnosed in 2016 in the United States.

Katherine Bazemore, president and CEO of Volatile Analysis, teamed up with HudsonAlpha, a non-profit institute for biotechnology, to develop the gum. HudsonAlpha specifically focuses on research-driven discovery, education, genomic medicine and entrepreneurship.

Volatile Analysis opened research and development lab space at the HudsonAlpha Institute of Biotechnology in Huntsville in 2015.  Bazemore said they will continue pursuing their mission in the fields of disease detection, food safety and genetics
