The Rosetta orbiter will end its two-year mission by crash landing on Comet.  Rosetta was the first man-made comet orbiter to encircle a comet's nucleus. The mission successfully managed to land Philae on the comet. Rosetta has been orbiting comet 67P since 2014 and it has gathered a lot of information.

The European Space Agency (ESA) Rosetta mission became popular when the mission landed an instrument on a comet. The Rosetta orbiter was sent to space in 2004. It reached comet 67P in 2014 and successfully landed Philae on the surface of the comet and served the purpose successfully.

According to the Experts, the orbiter's final moments may ultimately provide more information and clearer pictures than were possible with the Philae lander. Rosetta orbiter took a decade to reach comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. Rosetta orbiter is surveying the comet from its orbit, but the mission will have to come to an end when Rosetta runs out of fuel, power, and funding in September.

Rosetta's mission was initially set to end in December 2015. That is the reason why European Space Agency is ready to make an orbital correction that will send Rosetta to its end by crashing it into the comet. Rosetta's anticipated end-of-mission is scheduled on September 30.
