Apple has updated its MacBook Pro line-up of laptops, announcing the upgraded range at its 'Hello Again' event in Cupertino, California.
The new MacBook Pro comes in two flavours, 13in and 15in, and the headline new feature is the Touch Bar, a touch-sensitive display along the top of the laptop, where the function keys used to be. Also added is a Touch ID sensor.
Apple has kept the 13in MacBook Air, but dropped the smaller 11in version. The company did not announce updates of its Mac Pro or iMac desktop computers.
Apple has done away with the Mac’s row of function keys and replaced it with a mini Retina display named, Touch Bar. Touch Bar lets you interact directly with whatever software you are using, adjusting its touch functionality to the task at hand.
The Touch Bar adds the most relevant tools directly to your keyboard — changing automatically based on what you’re doing to make it easier than ever to get things done.
The speakers have been totally redesigned to provide as much as twice the dynamic range and up to 58 per cent more volume, with two and a half times louder bass for maximum boom.
The keyboard has been redesigned with second-generation butterfly mechanism meticulously refined for greater comfort and responsiveness. And the Force Touch trackpad is significantly larger, giving your fingers more room to gesture and click.9
The Apple TV, iPad and iPhone get the TV app in the US.it lets you select the show to watch from one central location and jump straight in to the correct app. Unless the correct app is Netflix, which won’t support TV. No international launch was announced.
The 13 inch MacBook Air is now the cheapest portable MacBook at $999. No doubt it will remain attractive in the education market and for those looking for a cheap Mac.
