WhatsApp’s video-calling feature is now live on a beta version of the app (v2.16.80) for Android devices.

If you have the latest beta version of WhatsApp installed on your Android device then you’ll see the video call update.

When you click on the call button now, it will show you option for voice and video call. When people who got the update tried to place a video call, the app showed a message saying “Couldn’t place call. Video calling is unavailable at this time.”

If the person on the other end doesn't have video calling enabled yet they'll just get a voice call. You'll still be able to see the video calling UI, though. The call log shows that as a video call, but tapping the video button just pulls up an error message.

If you have video calling option available, when you tap the call icon on top of a chat, both video call and regular call option are available.

Only a few users seem to have access to this new feature however there is a way to get it running on your WhatsApp as well.
