StubHub today announced the first ticketing app for Apple TV. The ticketing app will allow users of the fourth-generation Apple TV device to search for concert tickets, and even see what the view from a given section of seats would look like.

StubHub sells tickets via its apps for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Android devices. The company has partnerships with more than 60 teams in the MLB, NBA, NHL, Major League Soccer and NCAA, as well as AEG, AXS and Spectra Ticketing & Fan Engagement.

Marcus Shelksohn, director of mobile product said, with digital-ticket sales are increasingly shifting to mobile, StubHub’s Apple TV experience was designed to provide a “custom interface to reflect the emotional nature of event discovery.”

When you find an event you want to attend, you’ll make the purchase via an SMS link that’s texted to your smartphone. When you click the link, you’ll be taken right to the checkout flow in the mobile app, or to the App Store or Play Store to download the app if you don’t already have it installed.

Features like the seat maps and photos from the concert or event are prioritized over more utilitarian functions like search, or even the checkout process, which you do from your phone.

“We know that most people will be interacting with our app from their couch, as they’re looking for something to do, so we kept the StubHub app for Apple TV focused on browsability and discovery, to better motivate people to get up and get out,” said Marcus Shelksohn, director of mobile product.

The new StubHub app for Apple TV expands on StubHub’s goal to connect consumers to inspiring experiences, and for event-goers to be able to access their favorite events, artists and performers on nearly any screen.
