Today Akamai Technologies announced the acquisition of Cloud security firm Soha Systems.  The acquisition is intended to complement Akamai's strategy of securing, protecting and accelerating enterprise applications and services in the cloud.

Soha Systems was founded in 2013. It is a privately-funded company which offers third-party access to cloud resources without software updates or hardware requirements or updates. Soha raised $10 million from investors that included Cervin Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, Moment Ventures and Menlo Ventures.

Akamai says  the acquisition will be instrumental to boosting secure, cloud-based application control and simplifying access to the remote and mobile access to enterprise resources -- while keeping content safe.

"Enterprise security is undergoing a phase shift and Soha's secure access service has been designed to address the unique challenges businesses are facing in this era of hybrid data centers and mobile users," said Haseeb Budhani, co-founder and CEO, Soha Systems.

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Team Soha has a lot more work to do to fully realize our goals of fundamentally changing how enterprise secure access works. We look forward to fully integrating our groundbreaking solution as a high-value component of Akamai’s massively scalable, global platform.
