Nearly two months after the release of Instagram Stories, Facebook is testing another similar mobile storytelling format inside Messenger. The feature, called Messenger Day, launched Friday and is apparently only available to Messengers users in Poland.
Facebook is stealing the Stories format and invading countries where Snapchat isn’t popular yet. “Messenger Day” app lets people share illustrated filter-enhanced photos and videos that disappear in 24 hours, just like on Snapchat.
First it was Instagram Stories: just like Snapchat, users could upload a picture or a short video to show a snippet of their lives, which would then disappear after 24 hours. After that, Facebook launched Lifestage, which is essentially a creepier version of Snapchat with an age restriction.

The only major difference noted by users is the filter suggestion function, which basically prompts you to share different types of posts, such as “I’m Feeling”, “Who’s Up For?” and “I’m Doing.” Clicking on these options, reveals associated filters in relation to events and emotions like “blessed,” “let’s grab drinks” and “study time.”

“We know that people come to Messenger to share everyday moments with friends and family. In Poland we are running a small test of new ways for people to share those updates visually. We have nothing more to announce at this time.” a Messenger spokesperson said in a statement.
Facebook has previously tested disappearing text messages in Messenger in parts of Europe but never rolled the feature out globally. Like Instagram, Facebook has copied Snapchat’s pioneering stories feature without a hint of originality.
Snapchat recently rebranded itself as Snap Inc. and has dedicated itself to building not only a mobile app but hardware.
