Though it has not been long since Google came out with its first branded Android phone ‘Pixel’ and it might have not even lost its new phone smell, there are indications that Google is working hard on its follow up. Google made surprising splash with the launch of the Pixel, and all eyes will be on whether the next version of its handset can start to chip away at Samsung’s dominance.

Reports are that Google is working on two new devices code named as Muskie and Walleye at Mountain View Labs.

One of the reports mention that Google is eyeing a 1 trillion won investment (around $900 million) in LG Display, seemingly to shore up a proper OLED supply for the next Pixel phone. While the report doesn't specifically say that the next Pixel would utilize a curved display, Google's focus with the investment is on LG's flexible display division.

Google had missed on waterproofing in its first premium handset launch but this feature already exists in premium handsets like the Galaxy S7 which got ousted out of the market due to some other reasons. But now it appears that Google is working on this issue to rectify that in its next handset.

The first version of Pixel already has one of the best cameras in an Android phone but Google is said to be working on making it even better. One of the reports say that Google won’t be focusing on megapixels with its next version but will rather compensate in extra features. But for the time being it is unclear what that means.

It is also being reported that Google’s next Pixel will launch with the latest version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor. It is also being reported that Google is testing its Pixel with the new 835 chipset but it is also exploring other options.

The Pixel one was launched with the premium price tag to go with its premium features. It doesn’t seem to be going any different with next avatar of Pixel. Rather it is expected to start at $50 costlier than this year’s model to offer a range from $699 for the 5 inch model to $800 for the Pixel XL. Google is determined to keep Pixel a premium phone.

But there are reports that Google is testing a ‘Pixel 2B’ also which will serve as a budget version of the flagship phone.
